I think you should read more poems.

Not mine, or at least not mine here. Mine when they’re in other places, please! But there are lots of poems laying around the world, and several of them I like…and so think you should decide whether you like them, too.

You’re welcome to play the following parlor-games, if you’re so inclined:
*identify its influence in Kimbol’s work
*find a linking theme among three or more (with bonus points for gathering them all under one umbrella
.,.umm, maybe there’s another one, but I beg beg beg you don’t analyze them. Poor things. Just make friends, if you like them well enough.

Ready? Let’s begin.
[note: Mr. Cummings did not use capital letters for his name; neither did he title this work. Few seem to honor these intentions.]

i like my body when it is with your
body. It is so quite new a thing.
Muscles better and nerves more.
i like your body.  i like what it does,
i like its hows.  i like to feel the spine
of your body and its bones, and the trembling
-firm-smooth ness and which i will
again and again and again
kiss, i like kissing this and that of you,
i like, slowly stroking the, shocking fuzz
of your electric furr, and what-is-it comes
over parting flesh….And eyes big love-crumbs,

and possibly i like the thrill

of under me you so quite new

  1. e e many times made the very structure of his poems a part of his poems – much like another poet I know.

No analysis — just making friends as directed.
